The death penalty is hypocritical because the state sanctions the executioner which is effectively committing murder. There are other problems as well. People on death row can wait years to be executed. This is a very expensive process. One solution would be to put convicted murderers who are sentenced to death in solitary confinement with all sorts of ways for them to kill themselves. If a murderer kills himself, it can be ruled a suicide. Since most people can't sit in solitary confinement for years, they spend less time in death row.
Pro-lifers are for the death penalty. This may seem counter intuitive at first, but it really isn't. Pro-lifers would rather give ALL fetuses a chance at life to prove that they are not assholes and take away life from those that have already proven themselves to be assholes ;)
Death is the end only if you believethat the story is about you. There are 7 billion people on the planet. How egotistical to think that the story is about you.Although life is literallythe longest thing you will ever experience, life itself has been around a lot longerand will continue for some time after you. And, when you consider thatthe universe is older still, you may wonder if the story is even about life.
A lot of people see death as bad or sad. But death is part of life and if you love life, you have to love death. Now *how* you die..., that can be very sad.
Also, people see death as being nothing. But there are 2 arguments against that.
1. Why would the elements in the periodic table assemble themselves (not only to create life but) to create life that is able to think? And how can a bunch of atoms come together to experience life and contemplate death? You can think of the universe as a single body. And we are part of that body just as your cells are part of your body. When a cell dies, it is reabsorbed by the body and becomes something else.
2. Mass and Energy are different sides of the same coin. You can think of matter as frozen energy. And neither one, matter and energy, can be created nor can they be destroyed. So that person that is you just becomes something else. But that should not be scary because you are already different than when you were a baby (for example). You can't even remember being a baby. So that person you were as a baby is the person you are now (which is something/someone else).
Babies seem eager to become older and be able to walk and talk. They want to become something/someone else. Some children/teens are eager to become adults. It doesn't matter whether you are eager or not, it will happen. And when it does, you realize that the transformation was not that bad.
So..., to recap..., you cannot be destroyed. You don't become nothing. You simply become something else. A different state of being.
Now..., do you retain your memories? Maybe. But it doesn't matter. You don't remember being a baby and you're not bothered by that. If you are a teen, you only remember a fraction of your childhood. Maybe you retain none of your memories, maybe you retain some. Scientists say that memories are stored in the brain. But maybe they're wrong. Maybe there is such a thing as a soul that stores memories and can retain those memories after death. Or maybe the memories are also transformed into something else so that you can retain them. For example, you can store data on a CD, DVD, or thumb drive.
All I know is..., we'll find out some day ;)
Because we want to err on the side of caution and try to avoid executing an innocent person. But we do NOT know EVERYTHING about:Genetic/DNA/etc. interactions/processes necessary to create a human beingNORHow the mind works. And yet,Some claim to know exactly when life beginsand thus decide toerr on the side of convenience and abort the little bastard.
...that the world's "intelligence" distribution follows the bellcurve.
Think about your average stupid person.
Now realize that half of the world's population
is stupider than that.
As long as it doesn't require any more electricity, it should be OK. But if tax payers have to pay more for the extra electricity, then she should be forced to pay the difference.
Why didn't the government put restrictions on gun ownership after Lincoln's death?
They had a second chance sixteen years later, on September 19, 1881, when President James A. Garfield was assassinated by Charles J. Guiteau.Their third chance came when William McKinley was assassinated on Friday, September 6, 1901 by Leon Czolgosz. The most recent chance was after the assassination of John F. Kennedy on Friday, November 22, 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald. And that doesn't even include assassination attempts:2.1 Andrew Jackson2.2 Abraham Lincoln2.3 William Howard Taft2.4 Theodore Roosevelt2.5 Herbert Hoover2.6 Franklin D. Our civilization sits in dangerous territory right now. There are over seven billion of us, yet we are all concentrated on one ecosystem — the Earth, with one tiny totally-dependent off-planet colony, the International Space Station, which houses less than 10 people at a time. A single mass viral pandemic, asteroid strike or other cataclysm could completely wipe our species out. With humanity spread throughout the solar system — and preferably, the galaxy and the universe — our species is far less fragile to random extinction events. If we had access to the technology necessary to build a Death Star, we could easily begin to colonize space. And the Death Star itself — a giant space weapon — would be a safeguard against a particular kind of cataclysmic risk, that of hostile alien attack.

Wrongful death lawsuit dismantled by - Fetus is Not a Person - defense.

A major Catholic health provider has successfully dismantled a wrongful death lawsuit brought against it by arguing — in defiance of its own long-held doctrine — that a dead fetus is not the same as a dead person.
What if the existance of life after death doesn't require the existence of GOD? What if when we die we can just do whatever and go wherever? Why would the spiritual world require a governing body, a set of laws and a law enforcement agency? Why can't we be our own God? Why can't people and spirits just leave me the f*ck alone? I'm going to hell, ain't I ;)
If you are troubled about the meaning of life and decide to commit suicide, then you are really going to be puzzled when you have to start thinking about the meaning of life after death once you get there.
Also, there's an after birth so...., is there an after death and do people cook it up and eat it?
If you kill yourself in the after life, do you come back here?
If you really do end up with a halo and a pair of wings, do you have to watch out for giant fly swatters and little kids that just want to rip your wings off?
What do angels wear underneath their white robes?
Why the hell am I asking you?
